CASTLE HUGHES
HUSH HUSH BIZ SINGLE REVIEW
Mine

Emerging Australian music artist Castle Hughes has released her fourth single, Mine, a cinematic pop treat featuring Castle’s mesmerising vocal performance, unforgettable melodic hooks and a life-affirming lyric encapsulating positivity, desire, and human connection. The young award-winning Western Australian music artist has developed a reputation for outstanding vocal skills and inspiring lyrics, and Mine is no exception. As Castle says about the new song, ‘I wrote this song as a homage to first love. I poured so much love and heart into Mine, exploring how it felt when I first felt the stirring of my first love. This song embodies the innocence of first love, the purity and optimism we feel as a young person falling in love.’ The track opens with the sound of a vinyl record, a hint as to Mine’s musical style, a classic big ballad infused with a touch of pop and augmented by shimmering production. As Castle comments on the recording of Mine, ‘I worked with the talented producer Simon Groves from Artisan Music on this song. Together we had a vision to create an emotionally beautiful orchestral pop arrangement that stirs and moves the soul.’ Castle has received a WAM Award for the City of Stirling Best Youth Act 2022, and at the age of sixteen, the newly turned eighteen-year-old burst into the music world, releasing her first song, Moving On. The track was nominated for the WAM Song of the Year Award in the 14-18-year-old category. She was also a finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest and a semi-finalist in the WA Listen Up Music Songwriting Prize 2021. She won the CALM Youth Week Songwriting Competition and was nominated for the International Songwriting Awards – Teen category. Mine is a big song with a relatable lyric and a stirring series of melodies and is sure to take Castle Hughes to the next level of her blossoming career.
