Summertime
Asim I.I., the multi-talented New York-based hip-hop sensation, has unveiled his latest
single, Summertime, which features Keemanee King Chakra and Keisha Martin. This
upbeat and stand-out track blends classic 90s hip-hop flavours with infectious beats,
memorable hooks, and a fun-filled vibe. A native of Brooklyn, Asim’s musical style is
inspired by some of hip-hop’s greats, with a twist of optimism that results in a more joyful
and celebratory sound. Asim got his start in the music scene with the group Malignant and
later joined forces with Kris Kartel (Kartel Route). He then linked up with the well-known
producer Angelicvoicesmusic, where he dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and continued to
write songs about unconventional topics such as water, pasta sauce, movies, and God.
Asim stated that the new track was inspired by the Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff, with a
superlative production by Angelicvoices. When it came time to write the chorus, Asim
sought a singer who could bring the song to life, and that’s when they found Keisha
Martin. This was a true match made in heaven.
The Summertime video was filmed with long-time friend Kris Kartel and is now available on all platforms. From the start, the irresistible rhythm of Summertime transports the listener to a summer landscape, with the instrumental components serving as a solid foundation for the euphoric vibe.
