HUSH HUSH BIZ SINGLE REVIEW
Tony Ronalds Go
Singer-songwriter Tony Ronalds, originally from Nova Scotia, Canada and now based in Sydney, Australia, has just dropped an emotionally charged pop-rock boomer Go. Over a 25-year period, Tony Ronalds has accumulated an impressive number of achievements including performing across Canada and the United States and receiving 5 ECMA Nominations including Entertainer of the Year as the lead singer of Kilt. Tony’s new release is an exciting blend of invigorating rock and pop with a little nod to country, a powerful song that features an autobiographical narrative that’s as relatable as it is enticing. The lyric is about the reaction to a life-changing moment in a relationship, one that has long-lasting after-effects. For Go, Tony teamed up with Canadian producer Eric Eggleston who has also mentored with Grammy-winning mixer and producer Michael Brauer (Angélique Kidjo, Coldplay, John Mayer,) and David Kahne (Paul McCartney, The Strokes, Sublime and The Bangles) respectively. The track also features multi-music award winner Michael S. Ryan of The Town Heroes.
The new song is taken from his forthcoming EP, and as Tony has said of the upcoming release: ‘This is my most personal, and by far the most meaningful project to date. The support from my fans has been amazing, without this support the upcoming EP never would have been possible’.
As Tony has said of the song’s inspiration: ‘Go tells the story of how a forty-something-year-old man living in Calgary Alberta, Canada responds when the love of his life says she wants to return to her home. Her home, in Sydney Australia, over 13,000 kilometres away. They were in the blink of an eye and a heart-felt moment when he says, ‘Tell me when you want to go’’.
Go has all the hallmarks of a massive hit, surging melodic hooks, a wonderfully mesmerising vocal performance by Tony, an edgy rock groove, and a relatable lyric; it’s a moving tribute to a poignant moment in the artist’s past and well worth checking out.
