INTERVIEW WITH SIGRID THORNTON ON NEW FILM THRILLER COMEDY SLANT

FILM SLANT
Cinema tours begins 26th July in Sydney.

I was thrilled to speak with Australian screen actor Sigrid Thornton who has had a extensive career in film TV and theatre and tomorrow not only will there be the Sydney Premiere,of Slant a dark comedy thriller that is a cracker of film but Thornton is to be inducted into the Australian Film Walk of Fame outside the historic Ritz Cinemas in Randwick.

In our Utube chat we talk on the film that is low budget Indie film of 1 Mil, and has a steller cast in this dark comedy thriller, where Thornton is playing Vivianne Vertity, a crazed matriarch of a dysfunctional family.
Joining Thornton in the cast are Michael Nikou (Fisk) Ra Chapman (Wentworth), Ryan A. Murphy, Elle Mandalis (Head On), Pia Miranda (Looking For Alibrandi) and Kate Lister (Clickbait).

Thornton has starred in many of the films now regarded as classics of Australian cinema. They include George Miller’s box office hit The Man From Snowy River (Fox Classics), The Lighthorsemen (RKO), directed by Simon Wincer, Slate Wyn And Me (Hemdale) and The Man From Snowy River II (Disney – Touchstone). In 2015, she won the AACTA Award for Best Guest or Supporting Actress in a Television Drama for her role as Judy Garland in the 2015 miniseries, Peter Allen: Not The Boy Next Door.

Slant is the feature film directorial debut of James Vinson, who is known for his television credits, which include Wentworth and Glitch. In addition to Nikou, producers are Monique Fisher, Alexandros Ouzas and Tessa Mansfield-Hung.

It is a romp of fun watching this film plus everyone in it is great, but my stand out is “Ryan A. Murphy”and like all films of late there are twists.

Slant was completed with the assistance of the Queer Screen Film Fund.
