With forty years on the road, countless untold stories, and one of the most powerful voices in Australian music, Kate Ceberano is preparing to embark on an extraordinary journey across regional Australia in June, July, and August 2025. Her upcoming tour, The Australian Made Tour, is set to showcase not only the biggest hits of her platinum catalogue but also some of Australia’s most iconic anthems, celebrating the artists who have shaped and inspired her career. Featuring music from the likes of Divinyls, Models, INXS, Mental As Anything, Jimmy Barnes, Sia, Icehouse, Silverchair, John Farnham, Australian Crawl, Bernard Fanning, Jimmy Little, The Church, Renée Geyer, Paul Kelly, and more, Kate will take audiences on a journey through the great Australian songbook, reinterpreting these legendary tracks with her own unique artistry.
Reflecting on the early days of Australian music, Kate describes the 1980s as a time of discovery, where artists were pioneers in shaping the country’s musical identity. “Speaking metaphorically, you’d land on these pristine beaches, and then go out and discover what kind of native culture you could be among. We were wild—we had teeth and hairy legs, and we were going for it.” With a career spanning decades, Kate has witnessed and been a part of the evolution of Australian music, sharing stages and experiences with some of the most legendary names in the industry. She speaks fondly of Michael Hutchence, recalling his quiet moments of reflection despite his onstage bravado. “Michael had a great deal of vulnerability. Even though he had all the swagger, there were moments backstage when he’d be sitting quietly in a corner, reflecting. He’d ask, ‘How did that feel? How did it look? Did it go well?’ And I’d say, ‘Why are you asking me? You’re the king—I’m just the kid!’”
Proudly first-generation Australian, Kate considers this tour a love letter to the music that emboldened her. “I was born here. I was raised here, on the stages of pubs and clubs across Australia. My whole sense of self has been shaped by the thousands of gigs, the endless road trips from city to city, setting up and breaking down. I feel staunchly proud of where I am after 40 years. I was invented here. I was made here.” She describes the power of these songs in her life, the way they gave her a persona to embody on stage, and how they remain embedded in her DNA. “Songs from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s are in my bloodstream. I feel like it’s my duty now. I think Jimmy [Barnes], Sean Kelly, and I are among the last frontmen standing from that era.”
At this stage in her career, Kate embraces a new sense of fearlessness, shedding insecurities and embracing the raw joy of performing. “I really have nothing to lose. There comes a point when you drive away from your former self—the fears, the insecurities. You stop looking inward and start looking outward. I think I’ve lasted in this industry just to get to this place where I don’t care about anything except doing what I love.” She speaks to the way music connects people to their memories, evoking emotions and capturing moments in time. “Songs remind us of who we once were, where we were, and who we were with. They capture the scent, the feel, the texture of a time before social media. These memories give us energy—there’s something trapped in them, and when we hear the music, that energy is released.”
The tour will also introduce two exceptionally talented musicians, Kathleen Halloran, an electrifying guitarist, and Darren Hart (Harts), a multi-instrumentalist once recognized by Prince, who will also be documenting the tour. With a dynamic mix of electric guitar, drums, and keys, the band will be switching instruments throughout the show, bringing these timeless sounds to life and ensuring an unforgettable experience for audiences.
