LEGENDS!
Brisbane held the first curtain opening of one real put together classic family power packed show that had two Legends themeselves Actor sisters Hayley Mills, and Juliet Mills in the classic stage play comedy Legends!
This takes the audiences into a world of gossip, rivalry, reminiscence, longing and scandal. As the sun sets in Manhattan, the claws come out as two famous but fading movie stars try to upstage one another. Leatrice Monsee (Hayley Mills) and Sylvia Glenn (Juliet Mills) are hustled by a theatre producer (Maxwell Caulfield) to kick-start their once luminous careers by starring in a Broadway–bound play. There’s just one problem: they loathe one another.
Having had the time this week to be able to speak and meet up with the Mills sisters, who just shine with radiance and grace and Maxwell Caulfield, who is husband of Juliet spoke of how incredablie it is to be part of this show and directed the applaues to the ladies in the roles that carry a great deal of the the sharp witted dialogue, but after seeing the show the role of Caulfield character Martin Klemmer, who opens up the night with a twist of conversations that he hustles in typical hollywood manner over several phones and gives out a good feeling that this is going to be entertaining start and leads on to the fiery feuds Leatrice Monsee, and Sylvia Glenn who brings pure satisfaction as they work off each other in perfect timing belt.
Add in a few other little gems that bring a good belly laugh and that work in well is actress Leah Howard who plays Aretha Thomas who has a impressive background to many stage shows, and the very energetic David Denis who plays Boom Boom Johnson.
This might not be for everyone but if you want to get a good taste of seeing some very well respected actors in what is a play that has had a bit of history in which Producer John Frost shared as it was performed by Joan Collins and Linda Evens back years ago where he saw it in “Washington” and loved the screenplay but due to many difficult factors he could not make it happen as to real rivalry going on but with securing the Mills sisters and with Caulfield it was good timing for all.
Having a famous father who is the legendary actor Sir John Mills, both sisters expressed that he be very proud to see them work together in such a roles like this as they come rare and they always feel him around them when they do work together.
Treat yourself to a blast of giggles and laughter and superb entertainment.
The season is short here in Brisbane as they will tour other states followed by seasons in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.
