MAORI NEW YEAR ON THE GOLD COAST

Are you ready for the hottest musicians out of Aotearoa next Saturday 18 July?

The Arts Centre Gold Coast presents the hottest Māori Musicians in Aotearoa for a one night only concert celebrating Matariki – The Māori New Year. Set to be a knock out show, the stars of Māori music Troy Kingi, Ria Hall, Rob Ruha and Maisey Rika honour this special time through their soul stirring music and as the grand finale, all four stars will give a combined performance not to be missed!

We are excited to share our music, our language, our stories and our unique style of performance with the people of the Gold Coast and Australia as a whole. Matariki is about abundance, there is always something for everyone’ says Rob Ruha.

Troy, Rob, Ria and Maisey all have one thing in common, they each come from similar kapa haka (traditional Māori performing arts) backgrounds and have performed individually at the same shows in the past. However for the very first time this Matariki season, these dynamic artists will perform together to tour as a united troupe.

This show has been a long time coming! We all adore each other’s music and are absolutely wrapped that we finally get to do a show together… and we will make it one to remember!’ tells Ruha.

Matariki is a time to share and celebrate. Our music, our hearts and the doors to our show are open to everyone!

The Gold Coast is home to a large New Zealand community but these four gifted artists say their music is for everyone, created to appeal to the intellect as well as the souls of all music loving listeners.

The show on the Gold Coast is the finale to the foursomes Australian Matariki tour and is sure to be a great night out!

Matariki-ahunga-nui – Matariki, the season of great bounty; Matariki-tāpuapua – Matariki, the bright constellation – come and feast on the banquet of sounds these four stars of Aotearoa will present to you at Matariki – Aotearoa’s Finest.
