Margot Robbie is hot property and has worked her way up in the Hollywood world in a very clever way with good choices and great management with a terrific partner Tom Ackerely, in life and business with her production company Lucky Chap Entertainment Productions. What more does a girl ask for? Well the latest film release which had a budget of $145MIL which has been getting lots of marketing promos in the last few weeks makes Barbie to be the most fun film Robbie may have worked on and one that will be the most profitable for her company I say.
She is Barbie indeed and the screen eats her up in every way plus Ryan Gosling Ken Beachie, is just as perfect in fact he steals the show for most of it and they look great together. This does bring you back if you were into Barbies and Ken dolls and there are so many of them to look at in this film that are out there and with very fun quotes throughout.
We begin with Barbieland is the place to be and it is just perfect day to day and everyone loves Barbie, until Barbie has some death thoughts at her all girls night gathering party that on the party night and then the next day things change’ and all is out of whack and her feet fall flat ! It’s all a bit crazy from there on for Barbie as she must travel to the human world to correct this with whoever is depressing the Barbie doll and find the owner. Director writer Greta Gerwig has thought out lots of things here to work this film in all accounts with co writer Noah Baumbach and with credits behind them like Lady Bird this is scripted well and has so many off the cuff remarks which is narrated by Helen Mirren.
This is not just about Barbie as Ken who gate crashes Barbie to the human world gets an insight to himself and and we get some fine moments of musical numbers here with Gosling and it must have been a cracker of a set at times to film some of the sequences as it is a romp and its funny.
Meanwhile Mattel, CEO played by Will Ferrell, has to deal with getting Barbie back on track in her box with his Executive team when word gets out she is on the loose but that does not happen of course and then all gets flipped out back in Barbland with Ken taking over with other Kens domanting.
Casting in this film is great, plus Music, there are good messages which will have some feedback, I loved the fashion statements, and sets, and the film will attract huge female audiences for sure and everyone in making this will be very happy indeed and Barbie’s are back and it is a film that is light and fluffy and who doesn’t like looking at Margot and Ryan?
