MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL HITS THE GOLD COAST

Melbourne International Comedy Festival is on the road again! This colossal night of hilarity arrives at The Arts Centre Gold Coast on Friday 15 May with a stellar line up of comedians.

Featuring some of the best home-grown local talent and international superstars from this year’s festival, the Roadshow will be heading to over 75 destinations across Australia – all packaged up and delivered to your door for an unforgettable night of untamed hilarity.

Adam Rozenbachs (MC)
Stand-up comedian, writer, broadcaster, actor, voice-over artist and ventriloquist dummy disliker – has steadily risen to become one of Australia’s funniest and most consistent performers, writers and broadcasters. Adam has performed eight successful Melbourne International Comedy Festival Shows including 2012’s The Good Stuff and 2013’s Eurodad. Adam has supported Dave Hughes and Adam Hills on national tours. He is a regular on Spicks & Specks, as well as appearing on Dave Hughes’ Handy, Mick Molloy’s The Nation, Rove [live], Stand Up Australia and Headliners. His writing credits include Before the Game, Spicks & Specks, Gordon Street Tonight, Skithouse, Comedy Inc., The Big Bite and The Logies.

Anne Edmonds
One of Australia’s most exciting new stand-up, character and banjo playing comedians, Anne burst on to the comedy scene in 2010 as a national finalist in Raw Comedy(Australia’s premier comedy talent quest) and went on to be nominated for ‘Best Emerging Comedy Talent’ at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Anne has since performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Melbourne International Comedy Festival to sell out audiences and critical acclaim. She performed at the 34th Seattle International Comedy Competition and the New York Comedy Festival. Anne has appeared in Wednesday Night Fever and It’s a Date.

DeAnne Smith (Canada)
Three-time Canadian Comedy Award nominee (2011, 2012, 2013), DeAnne Smith, has performed all over the world, including
the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Iceland Comedy Festival and Just for Laughs Montreal and Chicago to name a few. She’s also been on TV in four countries, including on Last Comic Standing NBC, The Late Late Show on CBS, Canada’s The Comedy Network and CBC, Australia’s Channel 10 and ABC, and UK’s Sky TV. DeAnne also really likes toast and has a hard time maintaining talking about myself in the third person.

Ivan Aristeguieta
After being a strong part of the new Venezuelan comedy movement and selling out shows around Venezuela and Miami-Florida (USA). Ivan migrated to Adelaide, Australia in 2012 and took the great challenge of performing comedy in a second language. After just one year Ivan was handpicked by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival to participate in The Comedy Zone – the show that presents Australia’s best emerging comedians – and was awarded the prestigious Dave Grant Comedy Grant. After sell-out shows in Melbourne and Adelaide for his debut Australian show Lost in Pronunciation, he was invited to tour with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Road Show performing to audiences across Australia. Ivan was awarded the esteemed Adelaide Comedy Comedian of the Year award 2014.

Nath Valvo
You’ve seen him on The Project, ABC’s Dirty Laundry and and the ABC’s Breaky Show. He currently hosts NOVA FM’s weekend Breakfast show in Melbourne, and was recently nominated for Best Comedy at the 2015 Perth Fringe Festival. Nath has performed five solo stand-up shows including Fag/Hag, Walk of Shame, Grindr: A Love Story?, Almost 30 and Boy Next Door. He has been labelled a rising star of comedy by a fancy newspaper, and has been the rare recipient of a five star review for a show he performed at The Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2014. Nath has a quick wit and a barrage of jokes that lace his often cringeworthy, yet always hilarious stories. Arrive early for Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow and enjoy free entertainment on The Terrace!
