2013 Music By The Sea Festival (11-13 January) Event
- Music By The Sea Festival – 11th annual festival of diverse genres – classical, folk, jazz and world music. This summer Festival is an absolute favorite of Brisbane urbane cultural events. Excellence is the hallmark of this unique three-day musical bon-bon.
Highlights:
Internationally renowned composer Elena Kats-Chernin introduces her works, performed by Tamara Cislowska on the piano. Elena also joins Tamara for a selection of works in ‘four hands’ – a rare and fascinating experience for the audience!
Vishten, folk ensemble from Canada
French and Celtic sounds fuse with the same current that flows through Breton, Cajun, Irish, Scottish, and much American music.
Tinpan Orange, roots/indie band from Melbourne
Six-foot frontwoman Emily Lubitz twirls her flaming red hair out across a complex and original musical creation accompanied by guitarist Jesse Lubitz, Daniel Farrugia on drums, and violinist Alex Burkoy. Tinpan Orange always delivers on the stage. Since their early days as Australian folk darlings, brother-and-sister duo, Tinpan Orange has evolved into an outstanding, original musical force.
