Starlight ambassador, Neil Perry, creates the ultimate burger for Starlight Day, Friday, 6 May 2016
One of Australia’s favourite chefs and Starlight Children’s Foundation ambassador, Neil Perry is adding a special burger to the Burger Project menu on Starlight Day, Friday 6 May, to raise much-needed funds for sick kids.
The Aussie-inspired Starlight Burger, made with 100% grass-fed beef, pineapple and beetroot, was specially created by Neil Perry and will be available exclusively on Starlight Day for $12.90 at Burger Project restaurants at World Square and MLC Centre in Sydney.
In the spirit of Starlight Day, $2 from every Starlight Burger sold goes to Starlight to help brighten the lives of more than 33,000 seriously ill children and their families around Australia.
To help Starlight further, the Rockpool Foundation has also committed to match donations made on the day.
Starlight ambassador and restaurateur, Neil Perry said: “We’re excited to be supporting Starlight Day and raising much-needed funds for sick kids and their families in hospital around Australia. Come down to Burger Project this Friday and enjoy a burger to help Starlight.
“I’ve been working with Starlight for more than 20 years, and I’m humbled to see how the Captain Starlight and Starlight Express Room programs continue to help sick kids recapture their childhoods with strength. It’s incredibly inspiring.”
If you can’t get to Burger Project on Starlight Day, Starlight is encouraging everyone to host a Star-BQ, a fundraising barbeque for Starlight, anytime during May.
“Support Starlight this month by hosting a Star-BQ with friends and family. All you need is some quality protein, your favourite burger flavours and a hotplate,” said Perry.
As Starlight’s biggest annual fundraising event, Starlight Day aims to raise much-needed funds to support sick kids through its uniquely Australian hospital programs – the Starlight Express Room and Captain Starlight.
Starlight CEO, Louise Baxter said: “Hospitals can be a scary place for a seriously ill child, so Starlight’s aim is to brighten the experience by replacing their pain, fear and stress with fun, joy and laughter.
“We are delighted to have the incredible support of Neil and the Rockpool Group this Starlight Day, as we aim to raise $1.3 million to meet increasing demand for Starlight’s uniquely Australian programs.”
Starlight relies solely on the donations of the community to deliver and evolve its innovative hospital programs, which were developed to complement the Australian healthcare system.
