Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites has today launched their new CSR program, Oaks Giving Tree, and announced a partnership with Habitat for Humanity Australia and New Zealand, who will be the major beneficiary of the company’s charitable work.
Habitat for Humanity Australia and New Zealand works with low-income families who have faced adverse circumstances including natural disaster, family violence and disability, to achieve the dream of building and owning their own safe, secure home.
‘Oaks’ core purpose is to be a home away from home, which is why it is important to us to offer a safe home to as many people as possible. When looking for a charity partner who shares our vision and could help bring our brand essence of ‘welcome home’ to life, Habitat for Humanity Australia and New Zealand was the perfect fit.’ said Craig Hooley, Chief Operating Officer for Minor Hotels Australia and New Zealand.
‘Supporting the local communities in which we operate has always been a major focus for us and through this partnership, we will be able to utilise our resources to support those in our communities who are doing it tough.’
Oaks will be supporting Habitat for Humanity Australia and New Zealand in three major ways:
· Financial fundraising to help fund Habitat for Humanity’s building programs across Australia and New Zealand.
· Team member volunteering on the building sites of homes and properties for the disadvantaged, including assisting with renovations, landscaping, gardening, and minor repairs.
· Provision of free emergency accommodation within Oaks properties for those who require a safe place to stay, including victims of domestic and family violence and victims of natural disaster.
Guests can support the cause by selecting to add on $1 at the time of booking on the Oaks website to be donated to Habitat for Humanity Australia and New Zealand. Alternately, guests can donate funds via the GivePlease donation terminals which sit on the reception desks of all Oaks properties across Australia and New Zealand.
Of the new partnership, Habitat for Humanity Australia’s CEO, Nicole Stanmore, commented, ‘We are very proud of our recent partnership with the Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites. Through the Oaks Giving Tree program, we will be able to impact thousands of vulnerable people who don’t have access to safe and decent shelter, including women and children escaping domestic violence, Indigenous Australians and bushfire effected communities. Oaks team members will play an important role in volunteering around Australia and New Zealand to give back to the communities where they work.’
During the catastrophic bushfires of 2019-20, and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Oaks has provided emergency accommodation to those in need of a safe place to stay. The company opened their doors to those who had lost their homes in the bushfires, as well as victims of domestic violence, the homeless and healthcare workers in need to a safe place to isolate throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
