One small sip for dental care one giant leap for oral health: Introducing SmileSip

A prebiotic oral health drink and world-first Australian innovation that’s giving families and the aged a simple solution to oral health care

SmileSip, a ground-breaking new drink mix redefining the way Australians care for their oral health, lands on shelves nationally in Woolworths this month, and is set to transform the daily dental routines of Aussie families for the better.

An on-the-go, prebiotic and pH-neutral drink mix packed with beneficial ingredients, SmileSip is designed to support oral health and overall wellbeing. It is designed to help prevent and address the symptoms that come from poor dental habits. Available in stick sachet form, SmileSip delivers a ‘Holy Grail’ of oral health benefits: it freshens breath, prevents stains to keep teeth white, relieves dry mouth, and protects against cavities and gum disease.
SmileSip’s formula is packed with a powerful blend of clinically proven and science-backed ingredients like xylitol, erythritol and green tea powder, all designed to work together to reduce plaque, neutralise harmful acids and bacteria, and protect against cavities, while supporting a healthy mouth and gut.
Created by Dr Angie Lang, a leading Australian dentist with over 20 years of experience, SmileSip was developed in conjunction with Dental Health Australia (DHA), an organisation dedicated to promoting oral health across the country. SmileSip is an all-Australian revelation for oral hygiene, a ground-breaking new category of oral health and the first new innovation in daily oral care routines seen in decades.
“SmileSip isn’t just a drink, it’s a way to change the way we think about oral health and overall wellness,” says Dr Lang. “I was determined to create a functional beverage that was both effective and enjoyable. After over 10 years of research, I’m proud to offer a product that combines convenience, taste and powerful oral health benefits. It’s easy to incorporate into your wellbeing routine – just mix with water, sip and enjoy – and it’s suitable for the whole family.”

Australia’s oral health is a growing concern, especially for children and the elderly. A report from The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare revealed 42% of children aged 5-10 having primary teeth decay and 24% having experienced decay in their permanent teeth. The Royal Commission into Aged Care found inadequate oral health standards in aged care facilities, a concerning finding as older Australians are already more likely to have poor oral health, contributing to broader health complications and social isolation. Meanwhile, research has shown links between gum disease and heart attacks, strokes and Alzheimer’s disease, and it can even contribute to pregnancy complications.
While common dental issues and diseases are mostly preventable, many Australians struggle to maintain good oral health due to bad habits like insufficient brushing and consumption of tobacco and alcohol, and limitations in access to affordable and prompt dental care. High sugar intake and a lack of sufficient fluoride are also contributors, particularly with the shift toward bottled water, the rise in sugary and acidic drinks, and the consumption of sweets including sugary kids’ vitamin gummies. SmileSip is a cost-effective and practical solution that fits seamlessly into daily life, offering a simple and delicious way to improve oral hygiene.
In addition, the cost-of-living crisis means Australians are also reducing their private health insurance, which includes dental care.
With SmileSip, Dr Lang hopes to empower Australians to take charge of their broader health and love their smiles. She explains, “The mouth is the gateway to overall health. Poor oral health can contribute to more serious conditions, from heart disease to digestive issues. That’s why I believe SmileSip is so important, it’s more than just about teeth; it’s about overarching wellbeing.”
