Brisbane, Queensland — Hollywood royalty hit Queensland today with a surprise drop-in at Palace Cinemas on James Street, much to the delight of local fans.
Australian icons Margot Robbie and fellow Queenslander Jacob Elordi — stars of the bold new film Wuthering Heights — made an unannounced appearance at a screening in Brisbane today as they bring the global promo tour home.
The surprise visit comes fresh off their Australian premiere in Sydney, where Robbie and Elordi dazzled on the red carpet and mingled with fans ahead of the film’s February 13 release.
Locals at Palace Cinemas were thrilled to see the pair walk in ahead of a screening, though the event included a brief scuffle as Elordi’s security confronted a paparazzo outside the venue — ultimately denying them entry. Elordi’s mother was among those who made it inside.
Both actors, born and raised in Queensland, are being celebrated for starring in one of the year’s most talked-about films. Robbie has spoken openly about her deep on-screen chemistry with Elordi, explaining it grew organically in part because “we’re both Queenslanders,” giving the blockbuster romance a home-grown connection fans are loving.
The film’s bold, moody adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic has divided critics but captivated audiences, with some Brisbane movie-goers describing visceral reactions to its provocative new take on the tale.
