Review: Gatsby – The Green Light at Brisbane Festival

“Don’t Miss the Cabaret Hit of Brisbane Festival: Gatsby – The Green Light”

Gatsby – The Green Light is without a doubt one of the highlights of this year’s Brisbane Festival, and after tonight I can confirm that for sure.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the chance to speak with the fabulous Betty Bombshell, the creative force behind this dazzling production. She promised non-stop entertainment filled with daring, sexy, and cheeky acts — and she certainly delivered. Over the years, I’ve seen many cabaret shows, but this one stands out as an absolute delight. The theme captures the spirit of the legendary Gatsby parties of the 1920s, and what better way to experience it than by dressing up and diving into the fun yourself?

The show takes place at the beautifully refurbished Twelfth Night Theatre, which is looking fantastic and provides the perfect setting for this roaring celebration. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere has a party vibe, and tonight’s full house ended with a well-deserved standing ovation — a true testament to the talent and energy of the performers.
