Last night’s performance of LASSÙ was nothing short of a wild ride — a full-on live entertainment spectacle that fused incredible circus artistry with cheeky cabaret flair. From daring physical feats requiring sheer strength and discipline, to risqué moments that gave the night its adults-only edge, this is a show that knows how to leave its audience both gasping and grinning.
Over the years, I’ve seen many circus-style productions, and Brisbane audiences are certainly spoilt for choice right now. Yet LASSÙ stands apart. Its raw, raucous energy — laced with equal parts male and female mischief — creates a playful, sensual atmosphere that makes it a must-see night out. Add in great music, dance numbers, and a touch of “naughty,” and you have a cabaret that is strictly 18+ for all the right reasons.
The cosmic theme, led by Rodeo Clown Rusty, takes us on a nostalgic journey through the golden days of LASSÙ, reviving the magic of a saloon perched on the galaxy’s edge. Along the way, space cowboys, alien drifters, and the legendary Rodeo Sisters deliver out-of-this-world acts that thrill and tease in equal measure.
Behind the production is seventh-generation circus performer and producer Merrik Ashton, who grew up immersed in the world of performance. His passion for blending traditional circus with contemporary spectacle shines through every daring act under the bespoke big top. “Audiences can expect a thrilling, risqué circus experience that blends modern spectacle with traditional artistry,” Ashton promises — and he delivers.
The creative force guiding the production is none other than Helpmann Award-winning choreographer Mitchell Woodcock. Known for his work with global superstars like Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora, and Meghan Trainor, as well as high-profile productions including The Voice, Australian Idol, and international sporting ceremonies, Woodcock brings a polished, world-class energy to LASSÙ.
