Sheppard will also be taking the track, which they co-wrote and co-produced with Jon Hume – who was responsible for the worldwide Dean Lewis hit, ‘Be Alright’ – to their already-global audience.
Fans drove songs like ‘Coming Home’ to gold and platinum sales across Europe and beyond and ‘Keep Me Crazy’ to gold certification here at home in Australia. ‘Coming Home’ also ended 2018 at #1 on the Australian AIR 100% Indie Chart completing a domination which saw Sheppard listed for most of its 59 wks since release and the #13 most played song on Australian Radio. Their smash hit ‘Geronimo’ continues its phenomenal global run topping 2 million sales in the US and hitting the #1 spot in over a dozen countries.
Sheppard closed out 2018 with live shows across Holland where Coming Home is certified Gold and the track was the most played on radio by an Australian artist. A sold-out show at the 02 Islington in London further proved Sheppard’s international credentials.
‘On My Way’ is the ultimate love song as singer George Sheppard explains: “This song is about someone craving the uncontrollable heat and passion they feel when they are with the one they love. It’s about excitedly making their way to reunite with their lover, wherever that may be in the world.”
The track is the perfect Eurovision song, mirroring the feeling that fans across the globe have for the competition and celebrating the passion, love and peace at the heart of the event’s 64-year history.
Sheppard will perform the track at ‘Eurovision – Australia Decides’, hosted by Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey, a TV extravaganza as ten of Australia’s top talents battle it out to become Australia’s 2019 Eurovision entry. Broadcast live on Saturday February 9 on SBS, ‘I’m On My Way’ will etch itself into the nation’s consciousness as Sheppard continue their run as Australia’s royal family of pop.
Of their participation in Eurovision – Australia Decides Emma, Amy, and George Sheppard said “We’re excited at the prospect of representing Australia in what feels like the pop music Olympics. The fact that this is the first time the show has ever taken part in Australia and letting the public decide who gets to go to the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 is really exciting for us. It will be an historic television event that we look forward to being a part of!”
