‘Reason’ Out February 8
Sony Music Entertainment Australia is pleased to announce the signing of LA based producer, HOOK N SLING, and the release of ‘Reason’ on February 8.
There is no denying that the eyes and ears of the world’s dance music fraternity are focused firmly on Anthony Maniscalco, aka Hook N Sling. In just a few short years he has gone from an aspiring disc jockey to a highly coveted DJ, re-mixer and producer.
‘Reason’ sees Hook N Sling team up with twins and Australian song writing duo NERVO, who won a Grammy with the hit ‘When Love Takes Over’ (David Guetta feat. Kelly Rowland). The twins have also collaborated with other local and international acts such as Kylie Minogue, Ke$ha, Pussy Cat Dolls andBritney Spears. ‘Reason’ has already reached #2 on the international Beatport charts and gained over 3 million hits on Youtube.
Hook’s formative years have seen him chalk up some impressive feats, such as scoring an ARIAnomination, a DMC Buzz Chart #1 and several Pete Tong plays for his breakout tune ‘The Bump’ in 2007,and later straddling both club and commercial radio success with ‘The Best Thing’ and ‘Gotta Make A Move’. Add to that a swag of head-turning remixes for Calvin Harris, Fedde Le Grand, Miike Snow, Miami Horror and Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, the acclaim of mixing the Ministry of Sound Annual in 2010, and rocking gigs such as Pacha, Space Ibiza, Global Gathering and Future Music Festival, the early warnings of his impending ascent were clear.
However, it has been in the past two years that have seen Hook come out swinging his hardest. First with his breakout mix for Hard Rock Sofa & St. Brothers’ ‘Blow Up’ for Axtone (#1 Buzz Chart), and soon after with his impressive collaborative original ‘Diamonds In The Sky’ with TV Rock and Rudy, released through Fedde Le Grande’s own Flamingo Records (also garnering Tong support and climbing to the Top 10 of the Dutch Tipparade). ‘Edge Of The Earth’ (with Richard Dinsdale & Sam Obernik) on Sanchez’s iconic Stealth Records followed, along with a smash remix of Wolfgang Gartner and Will.i.am’s ‘Forever’ in close step.
In 2011, Hook delivered a game-changer with ‘Take You Higher’ (with collaborator Goodwill), samplingAngus & Julia Stone’s ‘Big Jet Plane’ vocal hook to create a bona fide anthem, and notching up a Hype Machine #1, a gold-certified Belgian Top 5, and clocking over 6 million YouTube views.
Followed by a stomping remix of Flo-Rida’s ‘Good Feeling’, and probably his biggest remix to date for NERVO’s hit with Afrojack and Aoki ‘We’re All No One’, he cemented his rightful ‘one to watch’ status by exhibiting his trademark production acumen and versatility, and above all his selective and premium output. Expect to see a continued run of high quality club and crossover records in 2013 and beyond.
