SPA UNVEILS DYNAMIC COUNCIL TO NAVIGATE THE FUTURE OF AUSTRALIAN SCREEN BUSINESS

SPA Council 23/24

Screen Producers Australia (SPA) is pleased to announce its newly formalised Council for 2023/24 following today’s Annual General Meeting. Comprising of elected councillors and appointed advisers from across diverse screen businesses, SPA’s Council represents the interests of all forms of screen content.

SPA CEO Matthew Deaner welcomed the new Council, emphasising their diverse skills, stating, “We’re pleased to announce the newly elected Councillors and appointed Advisors who represent a significant cross-section of the local production industry. Their broad range of experiences, genres, geographical areas, and business structures will be instrumental in navigating the evolving landscape of Australian screen business.”

As SPA gears up for a pivotal year for local content, with streaming regulation set to come into effect from June 2024, the expertise and guidance of the Council will be paramount. Deaner added, “I look forward to working alongside Council President Tracey Vieira and Vice-President Suzanne Ryan in the coming year as we work with the Government and industry to establish regulatory and industrial settings that will allow our sector to thrive.”
Council President Tracey Vieira commended the newly elected members and extended appreciation to those who concluded their terms, stating, “I congratulate all Councillors and Advisors on their election and welcome Greg Woods, Kevin Whyte, Kurt Royan, Kylie Munnich, and Mitchell Stanley, who are new to the Council this year. I also want to acknowledge Nathan Anderson, Greg Basser, Aaron Fa’aoso, Michael Fardell, Scott Howard, Leah Purcell AM, Bain Stewart, and Matthew Vitins for their valuable contributions over the past twelve months.”
