The Arts Centre Gold Coast revealed on Wednesday evening a stellar program of 23 events with a mix Australia’s finest musicians, dancers, actors, singers and acrobats set to grace the stage in 2016.
This sophisticated programming makes high-end artistic experiences accessible for local audiences, while enabling the Gold Coast to emerge as a significant player on the national cultural map.
The works promise to take audiences on journeys across new worlds and emerge from the theatre with new views and new perspectives.
Queensland Theatre Company will kick off the 2016 season with Quartet, a devilishly funny journey into old age, told with tenderness, grace, hope – and above all, no self-pity.
Motherland intertwines the sweeping true stories of three very different women from different times, united in the heartache of exile from their homelands. Brisbane playwright Katherine Lyall-Watson has penned an intricately researched historical drama about how world-changing events can ripple out and take a toll on everyday lives.
