THE COFFEE CLUB TELETHON BALL 2015 IS GOING JAPANESE

Interview with the Coffee King John Lazarou on the event of the year.

The Coffee Club Telethon Ball 2015 with Channel Nine is embarking on making some history on October 17th at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Bank. Speaking with the host of the event John Lazarou, who for nearly 26 years now has been operating and managing the growth of “The Coffee Club”. He is also known for being a very respected man in his circles of business, family and friends, as well is a very passionate man about what he does and wants to make a difference. Giving is something he likes to do as that is what he has learnt to succeed. With what he has been doing for a number of years now is to help raise awareness and money for the “Children’s Hospital Foundation” in order to help cure cancer, and it is his wish that that he hopes that he can see this happen in his lifetime!

“This is my highlight of the year,” John goes on to tell us “we are going all out, and it will be a journey from the minute you arrive to the minute you leave.” The menu theme will be BIG and Creative, and thanks to Brisbane Convention Centre (combined with our creative process) it will be Journey to Japan. This will be a first time menu for all the guests to experience, and has been carefully and thoroughly thought out by the head chefs. Executive Chef, Martin Latter, has created a menu that introduces the famous flavor combination from the Land of the Rising Sun.

Also guests will be welcomed by the Japanese Peace Crane, which has 17,000 origami cranes. This is believed to bring luck, good fortune and health and will inspire the night to be a great success in raising the money for the event. It does not stop there, the entertainment for the night is pretty world class with international star Jessica Mauboy performing. There are other announcements to be made and surprises for sure. The very lovely Katrina Rowntree will be hosting along side of John, and The Today Show’s Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson and Richard Wilkins will add more than fun to the night.

The prizes and raffles that will be held are very big, even going as far as rewarding a winner with a Volkswagen Golf GTI (valued at $50,990). The raffle tickets are $100 per ticket with limited availability – the lucky winner will be drawn on the night. Along side that are other trips to bid for, and something for everyone. The target will be aimed to achieve big, and last year they raised $170.000 and with already 700 tickets sold the capacity is for 1000 to attend. With the Telethon done here last time, the money raised was $9.2 Million and we are very proud of this and like to think we can do this again and every bit helps! The fact of that this has taken a year to organise and we got a great event that will mark this to be one of the best in Australia and it will be amazing event as to theme, food, and entertainment and venue and along with all the guests.

To end our chat today I asked John what his coffee quota was for the day and he replied “I am a creature of habit and at home I start with 2 short blacks, then later 2 to 3 Long Blacks, and then flat white, and might even have a coffee late at night,” and with all of that he adds that he does sleep well and adds everything is in moderation and life is good to me.
