The Dolly and Cher Show is a joyful celebration of two music icons who have never gone out of style — Dolly Parton and Cher — brought to life through unforgettable harmonies and powerhouse hits by the QPAC Chamber Choir.
Last night’s performance at QPAC’s Concert Hall transported me back to my youth, to the days when these legends first made their mark on the music world. While I’ve always admired both women, Cher has long been my favourite — especially during her Sonny & Cher era as I grew up in and then later was big fan of her solo career. Under the direction of choir master and engaging storyteller Timothy Sherlock, the QPAC Chamber Choir’s beautiful voices paid tribute to the history, achievements, and enduring influence of these extraordinary women in both music and film.
The evening’s setlist spanned the decades, from the 1960s through to the songs that cemented Dolly and Cher as household names. The choir and musicians delivered stirring performances of classics such as Dark Lady, Take Me Home, Baby I’m Burning, Islands in the Stream, If I Could Turn Back Time, Believe, and Jolene. Each arrangement was crafted with care, blending nostalgia with fresh interpretation.
If there was one element I felt was missing, it would have been visual imagery of Dolly and Cher through the eras to accompany the music — a touch that could have deepened the audience’s journey through their careers.
Overall, the show flowed beautifully, keeping the audience engaged from start to finish. Having been fortunate enough to see both Dolly Parton and Cher live in concert years ago, this tribute made me appreciate even more the music, legacy, and resilience of these two powerhouse women who have kept the entertainment world rocking — and hopefully will continue to for years to come.
