ELLE KING – AMERICA’S SWEETHEART
Fresh from her Grammy nomination for ‘Exes & Oh’s’, Elle King has released her new track ‘America’s Sweetheart’. ‘America’s Sweetheart’ is the second single off the 2x Grammy nominated debut album ‘Love Stuff’. She has already been described as “Blond and boisterous, music’s newest hot chick” by Teen Vogue and as an “Artist To Watch” by Esquire.
‘America’s Sweetheart’ is everything that has made Elle King such a success; catchy, gritty and amazing lyrics. Elle’s powerful and unique explodes throughout the track and the country-pop sound is unlike anything played on mainstream radio at the moment.
The lyrics of the whole song are about not being what people think you are and having fun and being yourself; something that Elle loves to write and sing about. The opening lyrics are “No there ain’t nothing that I gotta prove” and sets up the fast-paced track about loving yourself.
The pre-chorus is rapid fast accompanied by the twang and speed of a banjo: “So kick out the jams, kick up the soul/ Pour another glass of that rock and roll/ Turn up the band, fire in the hole/ Gonna lose control tonight” before slowing down to “What do you want from me, I’m not america’s sweetheart/ So beat the drum with me, I’m not america’s sweetheart/ Well they say I’m too loud for this town/ So I lit a match and burned it down”.

THE 1975 – I LIKE IT WHEN YOU SLEEP, FOR YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL YET SO UNAWARE OF IT
British band The 1975 have finally released their highly-anticipated second album ‘I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’. ‘I Like It When You Sleep…’ is the follow-up from the band’s hugely successful debut self-titled album.
Featuring already released tracks ‘Love Me’, ‘UGH!’ and ‘The Sound’, The 1975 have created an album with a completely new sound but still having the 1975 sound that gave the band such success the first time around. The album starts brilliantly with an intro track title ‘The 1975’ which is a short 1 minute and 23 second taste of the overall sound of the album.
Each track on ‘I Like It When You Sleep…’ is unique and fun with great lyrics, lots of which are written by front man Matthew Healy. The new album has a more “funk” sound with lots of bass melodies and metallic guitar sounds. Up-beat tracks like ‘Love Me’ contrast with slower, yet still pumping rock, tracks like ‘She’s American’ and ‘The Ballad of Me and My Brain’.
Each track on ‘I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’ is a different yet alike with the 1975 stamp of experimental rock. The band’s second album is just as unique and amazing as the band themselves and will not disappoint fans.
