The body has now been confirmed of Dr Michael Mosley who was missing for 5 days. The discovery was near a restaurant where he had fallen and was found dead in a rocky area on the Greek island of Symi, just yards from the beach resort of Agia Marina after an extensive search operation led by emergency workers.
The wife of Dr Michael Mosley has paid tribute to this shocking news of her husband and to the very sad ending of their holiday in Greece.
In a statement confirming his death, Dr Clare Mosley said: “We’re taking comfort in the fact that he so very nearly made it. He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen by the extensive search team.
“Michael was an adventurous man, it’s part of what made him so special.
She added: “It’s devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband.
“We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together.”
I had the pleasure to met him when he was in Brisbane for a conference few years ago and have been an admirer of his work at 67 years it is sad way to end his life and our thoughts go to all his family and closest friends.
