TV GIANT  REG GRUNDY DIES AT 92

The saddened news of the death of Reg Grundy today will have a sad effect over many in the film and TV industry, specially effect the many that were present at the Logie awards last night. He was the mover and shaker of our time and he sadly died in the arms of hi wife Joy on their Bermuda estate, which was confirmed by radio announcer and friend Alan Jones today on 2GB.

Grundy begin in radio as a sports commentator, specialising in boxing, for 2SM Sydney. In 1959 Reg Grundy Organisation, gave the start of Australian actors and other industry workers to be working on TV shows and is now morphed into FremantleMedia.

Among the shows Grundy was responsible for bringing to the small screen were Division 4, Matlock Police, The Restless Years, The Young Doctors, Prisoner, Sons And Daughters and the famous international winner, Neighbours.

He married actress Joy Chambers in 1092 a Queensland emerging talent who is a author and they become private in their lives and lived abroad. Grundy had a lifelong passion for wildlife photography. He published a book of photographs in 2005, “The Wildlife of Reg Grundy”. In June 2009, an exhibition of photographs of Bermuda Longtail fish by Grundy, “Longtails: The Bermuda Dream”, opened in The Rick Faries Gallery at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art.
He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the New Years Honours of 1983, and was made a Companion of the Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday Honours of 2008.

He was 92. Grundy is survived by wife Joy and Kim Grundy, his daughter from his first marriage to Lola Powell.
