Supanova and Weta NZ presents The Magic of Middle Earth!

In what can only be seen as an amazing coup for pop culture fans across Australia, Supanova Pop Culture Expo is proud to announce that the multi Academy Award winning Weta is coming back to exhibit in Australia at the Melbourne (April 13/14) and Gold Coast (April 20/21) Supanova Expos!

“G’day, Australia! The Weta team is very excited to have been invited to come along and meet our Australian friends and fans at Supanova. We can’t wait to take the leap across the Tasman Sea and join you in celebration of pop culture and fandom. It’s been far too long!”

“We’re looking forward to bringing a slice of Middle-earth to Australia

“See you at Supanova in Melbourne and on the Gold Coast this April!”

But it doesn’t end there.

To enhance the experience of fans to an even greater level Supanova is hosting three of the dwarves from THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, actors Graham McTavish (‘Dwalin’), Stephen Hunter (‘Bombur’) and Dean O’Gorman (‘Fili’) with a special appearance, exclusively on the Gold Coast, from ever-green Sylvester McCoy who featured as the wizard, ‘Radagast’. Given Sylvester starred as ‘The Doctor’ in DOCTOR WHO, and this being its 50th Anniversary year, it truly is a special treat!

To lend further depth to the panels featuring these guests, Mark Ferguson, who is recognised as a LORD OF THE RINGS expert and who helped launch FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING during the opening sequence as the Elvenking, ‘Gil-galad’, will be hosted by him.

Yet there’s one more string to the Supanova bow in presenting this stellar cast and experience, the internationally acclaimed, Karl Urban, whose career was launched with his charismatic portrayal as ‘Eomer’ in THE TWO TOWERS and RETURN OF THE KING. His credits since then are a cornucopia of geek wonderland (THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, DOOM, STAR TREK, RED, PRIEST and DREDD)  propelling him to ever greater stardom with STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS due on cinema screens worldwide from mid-May.

With tickets on sale Friday 1st of March from www.foxtix.com.au for the Melbourne and Gold Coast expos this April, Supanova is confidently looking at breaking all their previous attendance records in both cities and are inspired to deliver the best expo experience fans could ever ask for!

Oh, and did we mention The Hoff?

About Supanova –

The Supanova Expo was established in 2002 in Sydney by Daniel Zachariou and is a completely independent Australian production, run by a passionate team of young professionals with backgrounds in private industry and the creative sector. Since Supanova’s inception, the expo has expanded to six cities (Melbourne, The Gold Coast, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide) and gone from strength to strength to become Australia’s biggest event of its kind. Supanova is the nation’s only Australian-made, independently produced national pop-culture expo.

Over 120,000 patrons attend Supanova annually to meet their favourite stars from film, TV, anime, comics and geek culture, and to enjoy the bustling atmosphere of the trading floor, where fun commodities and rare collectibles can be snapped up by savvy buyers. International pop-culture celebrities come to Supanova to meet fans, give behind-the-scenes talks, pose for portraits and sign autographs at the family-friendly expos. Both kids and adults can also enjoy movie previews and screenings, gaming demonstrations, competitions, the spectacle of AWF Wrestling, and the opportunity to shop for must-have pop-culture items including comics, DVDs, figurines, accessories and clothing. Many fans enjoy getting into ‘CosPlay’ (costume roleplay), whether it’s to compete in the Madman National Cosplay Championships or simply to enjoy a fun day of dressing up and bringing their favourite characters to life.

The Supanova expos are a celebration of pop culture created by the Supanova family for your family, and for fans of all ages.
