From the award-winning team at Voices of Women comes Embellishment at KXT on Broadway

We spent a year talking, listening, workshopping, mentoring and gathering stories from across Australia and the world. Now we present it to audiences in Sydney!

With sensational actors and sublime music, prepare to be transported into ancient pathways to dive deep into our heart’s desires, revel in the intangible beauty of connection and our relentless determination to thrive.

What makes this show unique?

Embellishment shines a light on women’s stories – empowering and uplifting diverse women’s voices from around Australia and the world.

We’re connecting with traditions of storytelling from Indigenous and non Indigenous Australian traditions, South Asian, Indian, African American and Irish stories. Actor and NIDA graduate Ahunim Abebe joins Ashi Singh from Shopfront Arts Co-op and recent five-star one woman show actor Lucy Heffernan to bring the stories to life.

If music is the food of love, this world premiere of Embellishment will be your feast! Weaving text and music written especially for the piece, three sensational musicians rove amongst our actor storytellers, creating the magic of music within the story. Composer in residence, music box ensemble member and APRA AMCOS Fellowship winner Elizabeth Jigalin has created a world premiere of music for the outstanding Song Company soprano Susannah Lawregren, jazz singer Di Bird and saxophonist Alice Morgan.
