2013/14 WOODFORD FOLK FESTIVAL UPDATE

27 DEC 2013 – 1 JAN 2014

WOODFORD SENDING ALL WISHES TO HAVE HARRY MANX “BACK ON TOP OF THE WORLD” AND THRILLED BACKSLIDERS ARE STEPPING IN TO KEEP THE GOOD VIBES FLOWING

Woodford Folk Festival has announced Australian blues legends, Backsliders, will replace Canadian icon, Harry Manx, who can’t be at the festival due to illness.

“Harry’s decision to postpone all touring for a three month period to undergo treatment is completely understandable. We are all wishing Harry a strong recovery, and we’ll look forward to seeing him again at Woodford in the future,” said Festival Programme Manager, Mandi McIntyre.

We are very excited to bring another brilliant act to the stages of Woodfordia in the Backsliders” McIntyre said.

After performing together for 27 years, Backsliders are masterful in their electric on-stage delivery featuring the multi-instrumentalist Dom Turner on guitar and vocals, Rob Hirst on drums (Midnight Oil and also at Woodford to perform with The Break) and Ian Collard (Collard Greens and Gravy).

Commenting on the announcement, Backslider’s Dom Turner says, “We’re wishing our good friend Harry a speedy recovery back to full health. It’s an honour to be asked to help out and we look forward to being back playing for Harry’s fans and all our friends at Woodford.”

Renowned for captivating live shows – an eclectic mix of blues styles moving from driving delta blues riffs, jungle-like rhythms, to ‘Piedmont’ blues influenced ‘all-acoustic’ unplugged treatments of 1920’s songs by blues heroes such as Mississippi Fred McDowell and Robert Johnson.
